project life organizer

I bought the project life kit a few months ago but haven't been able to get started. I don't plan to put something in from every day but I usually lose the few things I was going to use. I decided to make this little book to help me keep track of the things I am collecting throughout the week. It's composed of chipboard, envelopes, and lots of labels.

25 Things to do before 26

In January I made a list of things that I wanted to do before I turned 16 this December. So far I have accomplished a few things but I still have many left and only 5 months to do them in. I think I can do it :(
These are the pages that I have documented so far.

For the cover of the book I used pink wood grain paper as the background and I made a tag with an image of a dinosaur that I hand carved a while back.

The inside of the book has a bookplate that holds the list of things I want to do.

{ No. 1 } The first thing on my list was getting my Masters degree. Behind the file folder tab is a picture of me getting my degree. On the right side is a picture of me with my parents.

{ No. 2 } The second thing on my list was to fly a kite. My friend Edna and I discovered the Austin Kite Festival last year and we had a great time but we didn't have kites. This year we made sure that we brought kites along with a picnic. I need to work on my kite flying skills because my dinosaur kite didn't fly very high.

I have a few more pages to work on so I will be posting those soon!

Hand Carved Rubber Stamps

After taking many printmaking courses in undergrad, I realized that I really enjoyed block printing. I have been carving stamps for a few years now and even sold them at one point. Now I only carve them for fun.

I needed a break from my school work so I decided to make a few this weekend. These are the ones I made.

Free Cupcake SVG

Cupcakes! Cupcakes! Cupcakes! Whether they are real or fake they are fun to make. Today I made paper ones but I am now tempted to make some real ones for dessert! These can be used as an embellishment for scrapbooking, a card, or any other project. I decided to use mine for my inspiration board that is totally lacking inspiration at the moment. After cutting them out with my Cricut, I used a rectangle hole punch and punched two vertical holes on each cupcake
. I threaded blue ribbon through all of them and then taped the ribbon to the back of the board. Next time I do this project I think I will add some glitter or maybe brads as sprinkles. The bottom part of the cupcakes are also lacking something. Perhaps embossing the paper first would add some texture.

If you would like to try this project you can download the SVG file here.

Free SVG Cupcake Outline

I decided to attempt etching a mug. I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I think it came out pretty well.

I first drew the cupcake outline and saved it as an SVG. Using SCAL, I imported the file and cut it out on contact paper using my Cricut. After applying the contact paper to the mug I layered the etching cream on the mug. After a few minutes it was done! I did drop some etching cream on the mug and didn't realize it so there is a spot on the lower part of the mug. Other than that, I like the way it came out. If you would like to attempt the cupcake outline you can download the files here. I would love to see what you make with the cupcake file. Post your images on the flickr group!

Materials used:
- Cricut
- glass mug
- Armour Etch
- contact paper

Cassette Tape

This is what the finished product from the cassette tape SVG file looks like. I used button patterned paper for the cassette tape piece. I wanted to mimic an actual cassette tape so I added a 1/16" foam dot inbetween the lower cassette piece and the main piece (the yellow piece and button paper piece).
If you end up making one of these post it on the flickr group.
